Starting counselling can feel like a big move, especially if you’ve never done it before. If you’re wondering how to begin counselling, you’re not alone. Most people feel unsure at first, and that’s completely normal.

The good news? Beginning counselling is usually much simpler than you expect. Below, I will walk you through the process step by step, so you know exactly what to expect and how to get started.

Step 1: Make Contact

The first step in how to begin counselling is simply reaching out.

Once you get in touch, the process of arranging your support can begin. My counselling services are available for people living in Gloucestershire and beyond, and I’ve made contacting me as straightforward as possible.

Feel free to reach out today by contacting me here.

Step 2: Connecting With You

After I receive your contact form, I will be in touch to talk through the next steps.

This is where I:

  • Learn a bit about what you’re looking for

  • Answer any questions you might have

  • Help find the best time/days for our first session.

This stage is all about making sure you feel comfortable and informed before sessions begin.

Step 3: Starting Your Counselling Sessions

Counselling sessions are usually held weekly and take place at two of my locations or online. The locations are easily accessible from:

  • Cheltenham

  • Gloucester

  • Stroud

  • Nailsworth

  • Cirencester

  • Painswick

  • Surrounding Cotswold areas

There are public transport links nearby, as well as onsite and nearby parking.

Once sessions begin, you’ll meet with me each week in a private, safe, and confidential environment.

When you’re ready, feel free to reach out.
